I Am The River is a collection of poems written between 2014 and 2016. In these poems, Javier Tinajero, posits Time as transitory, like skin or a complex web of thoughts.
The semantics are temporal, a grammar whose only purpose is to deconstruct Time. Every moment, lived or felt is in his poetics, emphasizing the necessity of finding oneself in Time, of abiding to the present moment. Vital time, factual time,like an evening’s dissolution into night. For some, sunsets and sunrises can be ordinary occurrences, but for Tinajero, they are manifestations of beauty. For Tinajero, time transpires, leaves a mark in its own architecture: the transformation of all things.
But what is time? What is it made of? Does it have an end? Can it get lost? Can it be found? Do we have any chance of grasping it? Tinajero grapples with these questions and pours them into his verses in an attempt to ha patch a hole in memory, recreating it at the same time, playing through the seasons of life, expanding along with the universe, rolling from the present to the past, jumping to the future, but always coming back, because time is circular, without a point of origin.
